A mad dash to find a pub showing the FA cup semi final ( Everton vs Liverpool).
We scored first but they scored two after that.

Clive is bereft and thinks we will lose Moyes now. That lose will harm the team for many years.
Gutted.

..sudofed lasted long enough for me to drive safely.

Avoided the saunas as they were likely to kill me.
Steam rooms were gorgeous but almost overdid it and fainted but cold wall saved me.

Company food and relaxation all good.

Home safe, drugs worn off, returning to bed happier.

Apr. 4th, 2012 02:30 pm Poorly

I have a bug / cold / plague and am coughing / coughing / sneezing and sniffing.
Obviously this is the perfect time to spring clean the house because I am already sneezing.

Even my logic pathways are struggling with that one however I am also at risk of becoming a bit OCD about the dust that I see EVERYWHERE.
I just hoovered the mattress.
I am waiting for the disturbed dust to settle before going in for a second bout. ( The mattress was covered with a dust sheet so I don't have to do it twice.)

Seriously where does it all come from.

Mar. 8th, 2012 05:18 pm The penny drops.....

It is known that many ancient spells are activated by the caster travelling in a circle or circuit around the area or item to be affected by the spell.

One really has to marvel at helpful_mammal's sheer vision, determination and tenacity.

Also at his effectiveness seeing as the circuit is only partially completed.

Brave Sir, Bravo.

Feb. 25th, 2012 06:27 pm Random observations

I often think of moments that I would like to record and rarely do. This is my first attempt in a while.

A young child in a buggy was heading my way. In his right hand the empty cardboard box of a small cadbury Easter egg. In his left was the whole chocolate egg. His eyes went from one to the other and as we passed I sensed that he had decided the box was more interesting. It made me smile. If the egg was discarded I could not hear the result due to traffic.

Starting a new book especially a book that I did not select. There is a feeling of hope and potential dissappointment as I tentatively turn the first pages. This book, however, has an advantage. I like texture in my books, I like to feel I am reading something that had been written with pen and ink. My ink pens have been used recently for the first time in many months. Last week I posted two letters and as they slipped behind the red ironwork maw I wondered if it would be raining when the terminal postman handled them. Rain would make the ink run, would smudge the address and condemn my missive to a strange little cart in the post office sorting rooms.

This new book has thick cream pages but they glow white because the edges of the paper are black. Tiny flecks of ink balance on the edge of each sheet and the sum of their presence is a warm layer of jet facing me as I lay on my pillow. What lies behind that wall?

The unique sweetness of a ripe naval orange on the tongue and the aerosoled oil from the zest in the air.

Gentle incense and a buddhist prayer in the room, church bells outside marking the half hour.

Good garlicky hummous.

Feb. 16th, 2012 08:39 pm One year ago....

...I joined weight watchers.

At todays weigh in I had lost the final bit and have therefore lost THREE STONE in the year :)

If you add in all the lbs I gained and lost on the weigh I also lost another stone to get there.

Feb. 9th, 2012 09:13 pm Hope springs eternal, bacon sandwich anyone?

My beloved Kermit was interviewed by the Guardian. One Q&A is copied below.
It makes me Happy, there is still hope....<3 <3 <3

What are your thoughts on the 2012 election?

I don't get too involved in politics, but I am an amphibitarian. I'm in favour of wetlands, green jobs (that's jobs for anyone who is green) and I'm opposed to interspecies marriage between pigs and frogs.

http://www.guardian.co.uk/lifeandstyle/2012/feb/07/why-willpower-matters

Interesting article which was also referred to in New Scientist last week.
If we are now told we have a pot of willpower that runs out will this be used as an excuse not to exercise willpower in the evening?

Chicken fried in butter, add chorizo, red wine, thyme, passata, paprika, onions, peppers, pork stock, black pepper, more black pepper , stir it and add more black pepper. Put in oven for a bit and throw some potatoes in there as well to bake. Serve with steamed green beans.

After wards, sneak into kitchen and scrape off the burnt bits from the casserole dish...caramelized sauce...OMG OMG OMG

*ahem*

In order to burn off some of the extra calories I may have inadvertently consumed  I cut up an old duvet and fashioned a cat bed. It looks like a pork pie without the lid. I wanted it small but high so he fills it and hence had duvet touching his sides keeping him warm. It has had one use so far I will be interested to see if he chooses to sleep in it.  He certainly chose to avoid the snow today, according to the lack of footprints he appears to have levitated at some point.
